Description
Our Frankfort Impact Initiative has many components built into the program to offer a more defined career shadowing program, educator externships, and employability skills training as a way to inspire students and provide valuable learning opportunities that engage their personal interest and career goals. Our program also looks to provide an avenue for business and education leaders to build partnerships and work together to improve employment outcomes for our community.
With a collaborative community approach, the Frankfort Impact goes beyond what we could offer in the schools alone by bridging the gap between business needs to education/skills attainment. The Teacher's Academy provides a unique opportunity for our educators to “engage and interact with business professionals in a workplace environment." Our business professionals, from various fields and background, will present an overview of positions, skills, and education needed to advance in their field of expertise. The emphasis during the site visits will be on skills applications in today’s workplace. The goals of the Teacher Academy are:
* To increase awareness among educators of career opportunities and required skills of jobs in local businesses and industries;
* To provide educators with “real world” examples of the application of academic content and soft skills taught in the schools; and
* To expand collaborative relationships among school systems and the business community.
We will host a Membership Luncheon on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 with Beth Davisson, KY Workforce Center who will update us on the new Talent Pipeline Management program.
