Description
Frank Fest will be held at Lakeview Park on Sunday, May 26th from noon-8:00 p.m. This free community event was designed to showcase the variety of amenities at Lakeview Park located at 112 Park Avenue, including golf course, splash pad, dog park, walking trails and more. Festivities begin at noon with the Franklin County ROTC Cadets presenting color guard and a flag retirement ceremony. Bring blankets, chairs and coolers for a full afternoon of musical entertainment on the grounds surrounding the horse ring. Featured bands include the Blue Crawdads from 12:15-1:15; New Town from 2:00-3:15; Bootsie and Funkabilly from 4:00-5:15; and The New Orleans Suspects from 6:00-7:30.
Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome at the event and Feeders Supply will provide supplies and a cooling pool for animals. Josephine Sculpture Park will host interactive arts for children in the Farm Bureau Pavilion along with County staff issuing child ID cards from noon to 5:00 p.m. Canoe Kentucky will feature information about their Elkhorn Creek and Kentucky River adventures. Kids can also enjoy an obstacle course in the play area. A “Skate Jam” will be held all afternoon in the newly renovated skate park and “Friends for Skateparks” and “Hearts and Handrails” will provide information about the sport.
Capital City Classic Auto Club and The Frankfort Mustang Club are cohosting a car cruise starting at 12:30, located in the parking lot at the Franklin County Career and Technical Center. The first 100 participants will receive dash plaques and all car cruise participants will enter at Franklin County High School.
The food and beverage offerings will feature Russ Kennedy, Sweet T’s food truck, Taylor Belle Ice Cream, local breweries - Goodwood, Sig Luscher and West Sixth, and Elk Creek Winery. The Frankfort Plant Board is providing two “buffalo” water stations for refilling water bottles.
Downtown Frankfort Inc. would like to thank the Title Sponsor, Traditional Bank, as well as Franklin County Fiscal Court Magistrates and staff, FRANK Magazine, Feeders Supply, Highbridge Spring Water, Switzer Ruritan Club, North Fork Baptist Church, Lakeview Park staff, Franklin County Sheriff and staff, and the Frankfort/Franklin County Emergency Management team, for supporting this event.
