Description
Buffalo Trace Distillery will honor two of the accomplished gentlemen who helped build the World’s Most Award Winning Distillery and will host a roaring 20s cocktail party as part of its fourth annual Legendary Craftsman series. The three events will focus of prominent legends in the Distillery’s history, each of which helped shape this National Historic Landmark into a Distillery known around the world for its whiskies as well as its southern hospitality.
The 2017 Series will consist of:
January 13, 2017 – E.H. Taylor, Jr. dinner – Called the “Father of the Modern Bourbon Industry,” E. H. Taylor, Jr. is celebrated for his countless innovations, most notably the “Bottled-in-Bond Act” which created quality standards for bourbon. Many of Taylor’s creations are still in use today at Buffalo Trace Distillery, including warehouse steam heating and column stills. Join us as we hear more about Taylor’s life and are led through a dinner and tasting from some of the Colonel E. H. Taylor, Jr. collection of whiskeys created by Buffalo Trace to honor this bourbon legend.
January 20, 2017 – Elmer T. Lee dinner – Known throughout the industry for his expertise and knowledge of bourbon whiskey, Elmer T. Lee quickly rose through distillery ranks to eventually be named the Distillery’s first master distiller. In 1984, Elmer T. Lee introduced the world’s first single-barrel bourbon with Blanton’s Single Barrel Bourbon, and not long after, was honored with his own single-barrel bourbon of his namesake. Join us as we hear more about Lee’s life and are led through a dinner and tasting of the iconic bourbons that make up Elmer T. Lee’s legacy.
January 27, 2017 – Roaring 20s Cocktail Party – Join us as we put a different twist on the series by throwing a roaring 20s cocktail party. Come experience cocktails paired with small plates by regional chefs and mixologists, and learn about some vintage cocktails and the legendary tales of their creation.
